Board and Organisational Support Officer for MSF/Doctors without Borders
MSF Denmark is hiring a Board and Organisational Support Officer to strengthen our Board and governance as well as to drive organisational development initiatives.
In a time with major humanitarian challenges, MSF Denmark is looking for a new colleague to facilitate the service and support to MSF Denmark’s Board and President - and lead selected organizational development projects. In this pivotal role you will help bridging MSF Denmark’s Association, Board and Executive - and ensure the Board is well-informed and well-serviced to best contribute to MSF’s global humanitarian work and advance MSF’s humanitarian mission.
Introduction
The role supports MSF Denmark’s Board—particularly the President—with annual planning, regular Board meeting preparation, facilitation and follow-up, secretariat support to working groups set-up by the Board and other ongoing tasks. The role collaborates closely with the Association Coordinator and cluster to plan and implement the annual General Assembly (GA) by invitation of the Board, including in particular the governance and election processes at the GA. Furthermore, the role works closely with the Association Coordinator to keep the association members informed about Board initiatives and priorities, building a bridge between the association and the Board. In addition to the support to the Board, the role also leads time-bound organisational development priorities within our Human Resource Department in particular in relation to enhancing the retention and engagement of Mobile Staff (staff working in MSF projects around the world). This includes establishing improved information-sharing and communication for Mobile Staff (staff working in MSF projects around the world), and other priorities in the Human Resource strategy.
We are looking for…

• Is passionate about governance and Board servicing in a membership-driven organization – and would like to ensure a well-informed Board that can take crucial decisions in support of MSF’s humanitarian work
• Manages meeting material, agendas, minutes and information flow with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Is excited about coordinating complex schedules, meetings and large-scale events.
• Communicates clearly and professionally in writing and verbally, adapting style to diverse stakeholders.
• Has initiative to drive time-bound organizational development projects in collaboration with colleagues across the organisation
• Facilitates collaboration; effectively supports Board members as well as working groups across teams and initiatives.
• Comfortable with digital platforms and tools.
• Flexible; able to travel and work outside standard hours, including evenings and weekends when the Board meets.
A person who has:
• Relevant education within administration, business administration, governance or organisational development - or documented related experience.
• Experience in servicing of Boards, associations or other political organisations, including understanding of Board annual wheel of activities, governance procedures, budgets and cost administration.
• Flair for and experience in administrative support as well as meeting planning, preparation, facilitation, reporting, and follow-up.
• Experience from membership-driven, volunteer or non-governmental organisations, including their governance structures, roles and responsibilities. Familiarity with MSF’s associative model and international movement principles (desirable, but not a must)
• Understanding and genuine interest in humanitarian or global health issues, including experience from humanitarian organizations (desirable)
• Fluent in English and preferably Danish.
To:
• Support MSF Denmark’s Board and President with oversight and approval of the long-term strategies, annual plans and budgets proposed and implemented by the General Director and Management Team, ensuring alignment with MSF Denmark’s and MSF international goals.
• Provide administrative and strategic support to the Board and President, including preparation, execution and follow-up on monthly Board meetings.
• Support the President in ongoing work and facilitation of working groups and other initiatives.
• Support internal processes to uphold governance standards across MSF Denmark’s entities, aligned with MSF’s international governance developments and Danish Foundation Law.
• Help the Board plan and implement the annual General Assembly and other Board initiatives in collaboration with the Association Coordinator and cluster.
• Collaborate with the Director General to share information and build bridges between the association, Board and executive.
• Coordinate with Association Coordinator and cluster to ensure alignment across associative and board aims.
• Lead and implement time-bound organisational development projects that strengthen retention, engagement and support to Mobile Staff and other cross-cutting priorities in the Human Resource Department.
You can expect …
You will be part of the Analysis and Advocacy Unit with 12 colleagues, including 4 persons working within the Association and Board cluster (this role, the Association Coordinator, the Association Student Assistant and the Event Volunteer). You will also be collaborating closely with the HR Department on organizational development initiatives involving Mobile Staff.
Work outside standard hours, including evenings and weekends, will occur, in particular around Monthly Board Meetings and meetings of Board working groups.
